vertebrae

Hey Kids!  I hope everyone is surviving their munday grind.  It will all be ok soon, tuesdays will turn into thursdays and before you know it you will be friday night stompin with your hair on fire!  Until then, here is our special treat for today: the latest mix from our friendly skycaptain Bennett Leader.  His new mix is perfect for the winter times and should give you a warm funny feeling in your belly.  It consists of tracks ranging from melodic to straight rhythm but they all cause sparkles in your head movies and sways in your hips.  I commend this one for its soothing tact.  Rating: 4 Beers

“a friendly disco house mix. most songs, not all, came out within the last year, so its relevant, with a retro sound. the inspiration came from some of my favorite  dj’s: Classixx, Metro Area, James Murphy, Cosmo Vitelli, etc. I think it came out quite nice, and very smoove. making these mixes is about defining my style and i believe this one to be the most accurate to date.” – bl

humans in space

So I am not sure exactly why, but this is just what i needed to hear. Last week I found myself on our Romanian friend’s blog listening to a very good mix by Acos CoolKAS when i discovered this slamming space disco track by D-Pulse. D-pulse is an actual band, er “House-Quartet” (AWESOME) out of Prague via Russia, or somewhere. They sound a lot like Space… or Still Going… i cant really pin it down, but i sense they will get bigger with time.

“You can name it whatever you want: electric disco, space romantic rock, acoustic deep house, minimal funk or balearic jazz. It is the sphere where words are useless. Sonic cocktail with different flavours. Great for dancing, as well as regular home listening, making love and… just living.”

Uhhhh, i totally need to see them live.

D-Pulse – Prekrasna

This is off the new Prekrasna ep… buy buy buy. Also on beatport and emusic.

Nothing too serious for Tuesday night, kids. Rhythm Sektion’s good friend Doug Marshall, whose photos you can view a few posts back and here, showed me this video Saturday night over beers. I’ve watched this probably 6 times since the initial viewing.

You probably aren’t too cognizant of the post-Keith Moon Who, and, neither am I really. But this song is nothing but pure radness. From the sample at the beginning to Pete’s rip roaring guitar solo, from Roger Daltrey’s fabulous blond curls, this video is a gem. So enjoy with a smile: The Who – Eminence Front

!!!neu

Hello ladies and gents, long time no post. I promise that won’t happen again. Ok, lets get to the good stuff. With the recent passing of the extremely talented Jerry Fuchs I thought it might be nice to do a little !!! post for you. I can’t believe we haven’t done one yet actually. If you know me personally than you have already heard me rant and rave about how much I love this band. For those of you who don’t, allow me to share with you what we here at Rhythm Sektion have dubbed a “Randyism”  One of my fathers little life lessons.

Randyism #56 – Good music, especially rock & roll music, should inspire one or more of these four things: drinking, dancing, fighting, and fucking

This is why !!! is one of my favorite bands. Their music represents the perfect combination of all four. So I thought I’d break it down for you with some of my favorite tracks from the band. So give them a listen and give in to all those debaucherous feelings you’ve been trying to suppress.

Love,

Some Man

Drinking

!!! – Hello ? Is This Thing On?

Dancing

!!! – Me And Giulliani Down By The School Yard (A True Story)

Fighting

!!! – Pardon My Freedom

Fucking

!!! – Must Be The Moon

Hello to all of you out there surviving the winter storms.  Us Texans ain’t used to seeuch cold sky particles, uhn huhm.  Anyways, nothing accompanies my cold weather any better than some rhythmic and melodic indie goodness.  My most recent dosage has been provided by UK standouts Wild Beasts . Their latest record Two Dancers is unbelievable.  The dense rhythms mixed with pretty, shiny, and sparkly guitars lay a comfy warm bed of sound over my brain pillow.  All of this lovely arrangement is simultaneously gently ridden and dominated by the insane vocals, which teeter between Antony and the Johnsons and Dirty Projectors, either way this shnift is dope (and remix ready!).

Here are some of the highlights:

Two Dancers (ii)

This entire album is amazing and is a must buy for all those who enjoy the beauty of the winter times.  It is available on emusic and other interweb outlets.  Including their website.  Go der!
