the sun comes up, the sun goes down. wow. what a re-edit of New Editions “Lifetime Groove” from 1986! Macros Cabral + Shux (which i think is just Brennan Green…), released this on their label, On the Prowl. Talk about a summer jam. some much listening to this has gone down recently. especially with the influx of warm air.
And this one too, what can you expect from Tensnake? Pretty good as of late. I can’t wait to get the Coma Cat 12″, weeeee. Let’s get more of The Swiss, huh…
Happy Texas Independence Day e’erbody. This here’s a Ghostly International post. Ghostly, we love you.
Have you ever had the hiccups while dancing? Have you ever tried to cure the hiccups BY dancing? Check out Phantogram, a new artist from Ghostly with smooth grooves half RZA, half XX. They’re all over SXSW parties this year. With any luck, everybody could be tired of them by mid-June.
ok, back in action after a long break. our friend baresi from the UK sent this edit over to us. This is an edit of the Barbara Mason track ‘Another Man’ released on West End records in 1983. Baresi brings it back after a nice rub down. Definitely my kind of track.

The disco kids in Austin have a new plaything courtesy of a monstrous troupe of guys doin’ it and doin’ it well. “Get Down Saturday Night” is a new weekly Saturdays at Karibu Ethiopian Bar and Restaurant (East 7th, between Navasota and Onion). It’s a nod to this classic boogie track by Oliver Cheatham…”Boooiiii it’s Saturday night!”
With no cover, a kitchen operating until 2 AM, and a cleared dance floor for some boogie space, this new event offers a disco spot among all the jukebox joints currently dominating the the east side scene. I for one am totally stoked at this new addition, because you can only slam Lone Star tallboys at Shangri La so many times, The Liberty is a concrete box, and we’re all too poor for The Showroom.
Playing disco, house, boogie, and an occasional hop into afro-beat, the DJs will rotate from week to week. Sweet DJG, Acid Abe, DJB Hiney, Bill Converse, Living Bluntly (out of Georgetown), Mos Jef, Mike Z, and Bink make up the roster. We love all these guys, and it’s awesome to see all the discophiles gettin’ it done!
To whet your pallet, Rhythm Sektion buddy Dan Gentile (Sweet DJG) gave us a spicy edit…enjoy. See you guys at Karibu!
New video from Wild Beasts. “We Still Got the Taste Dancin’ On Our Tongues.” It’s a lusty song, typical of the lewd and hyper-sexual Wild Beasties. And the video contains just the two things that come to mind when one thinks of lust: namely, floating in space and horsies. Check it out.
